By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize produced a stirring performance to overcome El Salvador 3-0 in straight sets at the Central American U‑15 Invitational Volleyball Championship, hosted at the IND Gymnasium in Managua, Nicaragua. With the victory, Belize finished fourth in group play and booked their place in the bronze‑medal play‑off, where they will face Nicaragua, who finished third in group play, on Sunday.
Set 1: Belize started brightly in their final group‑stage match against El Salvador, taking the opening set 25–17. El Salvador rallied midway through, closing the gap to 16–15, but Belize responded with composure and power. The U‑15 girls strung together nine of the next eleven points, limiting El Salvador to just two more, and sealed the set to move ahead 1–0.
Set 2: Belize carried their momentum into the second set, winning 25–13. Though they surrendered several points through errors, the girls were otherwise unstoppable, pulling away with commanding rallies to extend their advantage and move 2–0 up in the match.

Set 3: El Salvador came out firing, racing to a 6–1 lead. Belize, however, refused to let the set slip away and quickly closed the gap, stringing together four points to make it 6–5. El Salvador steadied themselves and managed to keep their nose in front, stretching the score to 11–8, then pushed further ahead to 13–8. Belize fought back to trim the deficit, closing it to 14–11, then 14–12, and 14–13. Our girls kept pressing and finally drew level at 14–14, before edging ahead for the first time in the set at 15–14.
They extended their lead to 17–14, but El Salvador responded to cut it back to 17–16. Belize surged again to 20–16, forcing another Salvadoran timeout, and came out of the break strong to push the score to 21–16, then 22–16, 23–17, 24–19, and finally 25–19 to seal the set and the match.
With the 3–0 victory, Belize swept El Salvador and secured their place in the bronze‑medal play‑off on Sunday, demonstrating resilience and determination after trailing heavily early in the third set.
Guatemala beat Nicaragua 3-2 (25-22,15-25 23-25, 25-19, 15-13) in the second game on Saturday and will play Honduras in the gold medal game on Sunday. El Salvador finished fifth with four consecutive 3-0 losses.
