Belize Social Investment Fund participates in National Consultancy on Water Demand Study & Disinfection Sizing

By Zoila Palma:  On April 22, 2026, the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF), through the IDB-funded Water and Sanitation Program for Rural Areas in Belize, successfully participated in a National Consultancy on Water Demand Study & Disinfection Sizing.

Consultants from the University of Belize presented key insights into the data collection methodology, along with findings and recommendations aimed at strengthening water systems across beneficiary communities.

Attendees included Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government, Valentino Shal; BSIF Executive Director, Carlos Tun; Deputy Executive Director, Angeles Itzab and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Wellness and village water boards.

The session fostered meaningful dialogue, allowing stakeholders to better understand on-the-ground realities and water demand challenges across the twenty-one beneficiary villages.
