By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The U17 Belize Women’s National Team (U17 BWNT) remain third in Group A of the Concacaf Women’s U17 Championship following Friday’s results, which saw the Dominican Republic defeat Belize 5–0 and the U.S. Virgin Islands beat Dominica 2–0.

After three matches, Belize hold three points from their 3–0 victory over Dominica earlier in the week. Their two defeats — 6–0 to Nicaragua and 5–0 to the Dominican Republic — leave them with a goal difference of –8, but still level on points with the U.S. Virgin Islands, who also have three points but a significantly bigger goal difference at –21.

Group leaders Nicaragua and second‑place Dominican Republic both stand perfect with nine points from three matches. Nicaragua have scored 27 goals without conceding, while the Dominican Republic have netted 23 and also boast a clean sheet throughout the group stage.

Belize now prepare for their final Group A fixture on Monday, February 2, at 4:00 pm, when they face the U.S. Virgin Islands. The match will determine which of the two sides finishes third in the group.

Despite the challenges, the young Belizean squad continue to gain valuable international experience, which will hopefully serve them well down the road.
