By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The CARICOM Free Movement initiative is off to a promising start in Belize, with seven nationals from Barbados arriving during its first week of implementation.
Between October 1st and 8th, the Belize Immigration Department confirmed that five Barbadians entered for business purposes, while two arrived as tourists, signaling growing regional interest in the new free movement framework.
The initiative forms part of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), which seeks to boost regional economic growth and integration by allowing unrestricted movement of eligible CARICOM citizens across member states.
Belizean officials say the development highlights the country’s readiness to play an active role in advancing Caribbean cooperation, investment, and mobility, strengthening the bonds that unite the region.
As more nationals take advantage of the policy, Belize is expected to see increased economic activity, tourism, and cultural exchange, marking a new chapter in CARICOM unity.
