Belize River Valley ranchers learn how to grow better cattle from the ground up

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Cattle ranchers from across the Belize River Valley are taking part in a training in regenerative cattle production at the Belize Rural High School in Double Head Cabbage.

The session, facilitated by Mr. Daniel Juan, focuses on an approach that puts healthy soils, productive pastures, resilient livestock and environmental sustainability at the centre of farming.

The hands on training is equipping ranchers with practical knowledge and grazing and pasture management strategies aimed at improving productivity, strengthening climate resilience and building more sustainable cattle operations.

For Belize’s cattle producers, regenerative agriculture offers a route to more productive and climate smart livestock operations.

It also opens the door to growing consumer interest in sustainably and responsibly produced beef, which the Department of Agriculture says can contribute to the long term sustainability and competitiveness of the industry.

The Belize District Department of Agriculture thanked the Climate Resilient Agriculture Program, CRESAP, for its continued support toward farmer capacity building and the promotion of sustainable and climate resilient agricultural practices.
