By Aaron Humes: Despite a poor start by her standards, Belize swept its second straight game over Honduras at the Civic Center tonight, winning 25-17, 25-16, 25-13.
Team captain Gareth Bruce in a post-match interview said the team felt off-rhythm to her, allowing Honduras to grow into the game and riding their luck at times, but they asserted themselves in the second and third sets.
Bruce said that after a crisis of faith playing in Honduras for the bronze-medal U-23 side, she promised she would not give up on her teammates and so far it appears to have paid off.
The team will be off Thursday before playing El Salvador and then Guatemala on Friday and Saturday. Match times are 7:30 in the evening.
