By Zoila Palma: Over the weekend, thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts gathered in Guatemala for the 65th edition of the world’s largest annual motorcycle pilgrimage- Caravana del Zorro.
The event draws up to 80,000 riders annually.
Masked cyclists with costumes of superheroes, mascots and famous cartoons paraded proudly waving their flags representing their nations.
The Belize flag was proudly carried by Elmer Guerra and the Belize riders.
Guerra is organizer of the annual Elmer Guerra bike rally in Belize.
The final destination of the journey was the Basilica of Esquipulas, where they gather to pray and commemorate the image of the Black Christ.
Founded in 1961, the ride that began as a small journey has turned into an intangible cultural heritage of Guatemala and Central America.
