Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard is representing Belize in the LXI Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (COMISCA), which takes place in San José, Costa Rica, on June 18–19, 2025.
This high-level meeting brings together Ministers of Health from the region to discuss and coordinate action on key public health priorities, including malaria elimination, HIV and tuberculosis control, regional regulatory strengthening, health promotion, and the advancement of a Regional Digital Health Strategy.
“Belize’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to regional cooperation and health integration. By engaging with regional counterparts, Belize strengthens its voice in shaping collective health responses, accesses technical expertise, and benefits from shared initiatives such as joint negotiations for medicines and harmonized policies,” the Ministry noted.
This forum also provides a strategic platform for Belize to advance national interests, especially in digital health transformation and regulatory innovation, both of which are critical to improving access, efficiency, and equity in healthcare delivery.
Through active participation in COMISCA, Belize continues to demonstrate leadership and solidarity in building a stronger, more resilient regional health system.
