Belize represented at International Economic Forum in Panama

By Zoila Palma:  Belize is being represented by Deputy Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, Monique Usher at the second edition of the International Economic Forum, hosted by CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, at the Panama Convention Center.

The event is being held from 28–29 January 2026.

The forum convened more than 2,500 leaders from across the region.

The event featured high-level participation from heads of state and government, including José Raúl Mulino, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Gustavo Petro, Daniel Noboa, Bernardo Arévalo, Rodrigo Paz Pereira, Andrew Holness, and José Antonio Kast, with opening remarks delivered by Sergio Díaz-Granados.

The forum created valuable opportunities for bilateral engagements and strategic dialogue.

Key discussions centered on regional integration, competitiveness, investment, digital transformation, and MSME development, underscoring CAF’s role as a leading convener connecting political leadership and financial institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The keynote address, “Transforming Growth: How AI and the Digital Economy Are Redefining Competitiveness,” was delivered by Michio Kaku.

It provided timely perspectives on the future of productivity and economic growth.

“BELTRAIDE is pleased to contribute to regional conversations that advance inclusive and sustainable development for Belize and the wider region,” BELTRAIDE noted.
