By Zoila Palma: Belize is being represented through the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Brussels this week at the High-Level Seminar of EU and CELAC National Drug Agencies on Common Challenges in the Drug Sector.
Director of NDACC, Esner Vellos underscored that “…the Caribbean is at a critical juncture marked by climate vulnerability and evolving drug markets among other pressures.”
Drawing on the UNICEF Situation Analysis on Substance Misuse among Youths in Belize and strengthened through COPOLAD cooperation, he also emphasized that Belize continues to advance youth-focused prevention, early intervention, stigma-reduction strategies, and community-driven specific approaches that improves our local situation and responses.
Vellos reaffirmed Belize’s commitment along with the Caribbean to protect children and adolescents reflecting the realities and priorities of the sub-region.
Belize is also being represented by Dr. Gianni Avila – Ambassador of Belize to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union and Zachary Garbutt, First Secretary Embassy of Belize to the Kingdom of Belgium.
