By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca represented Belize at the 8th CARICOM/ Japan Ministerial conference in Tokyo, Japan.
The conference was held from December 12 to 14, 2024.
“It was a pleasure to meet and hold discussions with Prime Minister Ishiba, Foreign Minister Iwaya and VP of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ms. Katsura.
I also had the opportunity to participate in a meeting of CARICOM Foreign Ministers (COFCOR),” Minister Fonseca said.
During a meeting with Foreign Minister Iwaya and JICA, Minister Fonseca discussed several important projects and initiatives for Belize including the rehabilitation/replacement of the historic Belize City Swing Bridge.
“I also had the great honor of experiencing traditional Japanese Culture and Spirituality by participating in the Japanese Tea Ceremony at the ASAKUSA SHRINE,” Minister Fonseca said.
