By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, has officially released the list of public and bank holidays for 2026. The announcement, signed by Kareem Musa, was dated October 27, 2025, and outlines thirteen holidays that Belizeans will observe throughout the year.
The new calendar begins with New Year’s Day on Thursday, January 1, followed by George Price Day on January 15. Other notable holidays include National Heroes and Benefactors Day on March 9, Good Friday on April 3, Holy Saturday on April 4, and Easter Monday on April 6.
Workers can also look forward to Labour Day on May 1, Emancipation Day on August 1, and St. George’s Caye Day on September 10. Independence Day will be celebrated on September 21, while Indigenous People’s Resistance Day will fall on October 12.
Rounding out the year are Garifuna Settlement Day on November 19, and the traditional Christmas holidays — Christmas Day on December 25 and Boxing Day on December 26.
This schedule provides Belizeans with opportunities throughout the year to honor the nation’s cultural, historical, and religious milestones.
