By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The heat is rising in the Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL) — and tonight, it all comes to a boil as the Western Ballaz Basketball Club (4–4) welcome the Belmopan Capital City Kings (3–6) to the Sacred Heart College Auditorium for a Cayo District clash brimming with history and pride.
Though Belmopan is the national capital, twin towns San Ignacio–Santa Elena stand firm as the cultural and sporting heart of the west. Every matchup between these clubs carries tension, but with playoff implications now in full view, expect fire on the court and thunder in the stands.
Ballaz, currently sitting fourth, aim to keep pace with the Belize City Thunderbolts (5–5), while the fifth-place Kings are in must-win mode to keep the Corozal Cerros Suns (2–6) and Punta Gorda Panthers (2–8) at bay.
