By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL) marches into Week 2 with three exciting matchups. Action resumes on Thursday, May 22, when the Belize City Thunderbolts take on the Punta Gorda Panthers at the Belize City Civic Center at 8:00 pm.
On Saturday, May 24, two important clashes will take place:
- Dream Ballers face Western Ballaz at Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium, Dangriga – 8:00 pm
- Tiger Sharks battle Thunderbolts at San Pedro High School Auditorium – 8:00 pm
Week 1 tipped off the league’s inaugural season with electrifying play. On Friday, May 16, the Belize City Thunderbolts overwhelmed the EZ Investment Dream Ballers 101-81 at the Belize City Civic Center.
The excitement continued on Saturday, May 17, when the Cayo Western Ballaz outplayed Belmopan Capital City Kings 77-57 at Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio. San Pedro Tiger Sharks overwhelmed Corozal Cerros Suns 74-47 at Andres Campos Civic Center in Corozal Town.
Looking Ahead to Week 3 (May 30-31, 2025)
As teams push forward, Week 3 will bring its own set of challenges:
- Friday, May 30 – Belmopan Capital City Kings vs. Cayo Western Ballaz at UB Gym, Belmopan – 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 31 – Corozal Cerros Suns vs. Belize City Thunderbolts at Andres Campos Civic Center, Corozal – 8:00 p.m.
With teams vying for conference titles and the Jaguar Championship, where the grand prize stands at $15,000 along with 20 gold rings, the race for dominance is officially underway.
