By Zoila Palma: Education leaders from across Central America gathered in Costa Rica this week for the High-Level Meeting: The Future of Education in Rural Contexts, an event aimed at strengthening rural education systems throughout the SICA (Central American Integration System) region.
Representing Belize was Oscar Requena, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, who joined fellow ministers, education specialists, and regional stakeholders in discussions centered on achieving inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all—particularly in rural and underserved areas.
The meeting provided a critical platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and regional collaboration, reinforcing the shared commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind, regardless of geography.
Organizers emphasized that educational transformation begins with strong regional partnerships, as countries work together to overcome common challenges and reimagine education systems that serve every community.
