Belize out of path as Hurricane Gabrielle and Humberto strengthen in Atlantic

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service is monitoring two active systems in the Atlantic: Hurricane Gabrielle and Tropical Storm Humberto,  but confirms that neither poses a threat to Belize.

At 6:00 a.m., Hurricane Gabrielle was located near latitude 36.4N and longitude 36.5W, or about 535 miles west of the Azores. Gabrielle is moving east at 32 mph with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Humberto was located at 3:00 a.m. near latitude 21.2N and longitude 56.4W, or about 480 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. Humberto is moving northwest at 10 mph and has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

Both systems remain far from the region, and Belize is not under any threat.
