By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The XV Central American Under-19 Women’s Volleyball Championship continues Wednesday at the FESAVOL Gymnasium in San Salvador, El Salvador, with Belize making their debut against Honduras at 4:30 pm.
Belize were inactive on Tuesday’s opening day as Nicaragua and Guatemala claimed early victories. Guatemala defeated hosts El Salvador in four sets (25-14, 25-16, 13-25, 25-19), while Nicaragua edged Honduras in a nail-biting three-set sweep (31-29, 25-14, 26-24).
The Belize U19 Women’s National Volleyball Team spent Tuesday fine-tuning their game plan under Head Coach Nelissa Ramirez and assistants José Fontes and Kevanna Sebastian. The squad, featuring a youthful lineup with most players under 17, are eager to build on Belize’s historic silver medal finish in the previous edition held in July 2023.
Belize’s fixtures for the preliminary round are as follows:
• Wednesday, Nov 12 – 4:30 pm: Belize 
vs Honduras 
• Thursday, Nov 13 – 4:30 pm: Belize vs Nicaragua 
The tournament will conclude on Saturday, November 15, with the third-place match and the grand final.
This year’s team represent the continued rise of Belizean volleyball following the U21 Women’s National Team’s gold medal win in July 2024. With a mix of emerging talent and experienced coaching, Belize are aiming to make a strong statement in San Salvador.
