By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 🇧🇿 Belize’s U23 Men’s National Volleyball Team takes a well-earned rest Friday as the NORCECA U23 Men’s Pan American Cup pivots to its quarterfinal round at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. With pool play completed, Belize, finishing fourth in Pool B (0–3), now shifts focus to the 5th–8th place classification matches slated for Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday’s conclusion marked Belize’s third pool defeat, falling in straight sets (26–24, 25–16, 25–12) to a powerful United States squad. Despite the scoreline, Belize showed fighting spirit early in the match, led by standout efforts from captain Kaelen Ingram and opposite hitter Eleazar Mejia. The loss came one day after a tough contest against undefeated Dominican Republic, in which Belize showed grit in a 3–0 loss (25–22, 25–16, 25–23).

🔜 Belize’s Weekend Outlook

  • 📅 Saturday, August 2 – Belize will play one of the quarterfinal losers in the classification match for 5th–8th place at 4:00 pm.
  • 📅 Sunday, August 3 – Win or lose, Belize returns to the court for final placement: either the 5th place final at 2:00 pm or the 7th place match at 12:00 pm.

Quarterfinal Action Friday, August 1

  • 🇺🇸 United States (2nd Pool B) vs 🇨🇷 Costa Rica (3rd Pool A) – 5:00 pm
  • 🇬🇹 Guatemala (2nd Pool A) vs 🇲🇽 Mexico (3rd Pool B) – 7:00 pm
