By Zoila Palma: The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) held its 55th Annual Convention in Punta Gorda Town from April 4 to 8, 2025, bringing together educators from across the country.
This year’s theme, “BNTU: Promoting Advocacy, Action, and Accountability in Education,” emphasized the union’s ongoing commitment to educational progress.
The convention featured a variety of events, including a queen contest for educators and a showcase by Galen University, highlighting educational opportunities for teachers.
Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources hosted a land clinic specifically for educators, providing valuable resources on land ownership and rights.
The event also included the BNTU’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members discussed important issues affecting the education sector.
The convention served as a platform for networking, professional development, and collaboration among Belize’s educators.
