By Zoila Palma: The Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) has announced a week-long series of activities to honor the life, work, and legacy of the late Bro. George Frazer, a founding member and respected leader of the union.
The BNTU described Frazer as a tireless advocate for teachers, social justice, and the strengthening of public education in Belize, noting that his leadership and sacrifice helped shape the union into a strong and respected voice nationwide.
As part of the pre-burial plan of action, BNTU members nationwide will observe a “Wear Green Week” from Monday to Friday, fly flags at half-mast at schools and education facilities, and display green or black ribbons in remembrance.
Wednesday has been designated Bro. George Frazer Day, during which members will educate students and colleagues about his contributions, while a joint media engagement will highlight his work and impact.
The union’s social media platforms will also feature tributes throughout the week.
The remembrance activities will conclude with vigils held in each branch on Friday, followed by funeral services on Saturday at the Nazarene Church in San Ignacio.
The BNTU will make an official presentation on behalf of the union, with transportation arranged by the national body.
National President Nadia Caliz called on members to stand united in honoring a pioneer whose life’s work continues to guide and inspire educators across Belize.
