By Breaking Belize News Staff: Moist and unstable conditions continue to dominate Belize’s weather today, bringing mostly cloudy skies across the country. Showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain are expected, especially over southern and coastal areas this morning and again tonight. The Belize Met Service has issued an Excessive Rainfall Watch, warning of possible rainfall amounts between 2 to 4 inches within the next 24 hours. Flood-prone communities are urged to stay alert and monitor updates from the National Hydrological Service.
Small craft operators are also advised to exercise caution as locally rough seas and gusty winds may occur near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds are blowing from the east-northeast at 5 to 15 knots, with seas ranging from light chop to choppy and wave heights between 2 to 5 feet.
Daytime temperatures will reach highs of 86°F along the coast, 88°F inland, and 79°F in the hills. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 77°F along the coast, 73°F inland, and 64°F in the hills. Sunrise was at 5:41 AM, and sunset is expected at 5:53 PM.
Meanwhile, the tropical weather outlook notes an elongated low-pressure area in the central tropical Atlantic producing a large cluster of thunderstorms, with a high chance of development into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours. At this time, it poses no threat to Belize.
