By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Softball Team are gearing up for a demanding and action-packed run at the 12th Central American Games in Guatemala, with five round-robin matches scheduled over four consecutive days before heading into playoffs.
The team open their campaign on Friday, October 17, facing Panama at 9:00 am at the Carlos Cano Stadium in Guatemala City, marking Belize’s first official contest of the Games.
Their schedule continues as follows:
- Saturday, October 18 – vs Honduras at 9:00 am
- Sunday, October 19 – double-header vs Costa Rica at 11:30 am and Guatemala at 2:00 pm
- Monday, October 20 – wrap up round play vs Nicaragua at 9:00 am
- Tuesday, October 21 – Playoffs/medal games – Top 4 teams at 9:00 am
Following round-robin play, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs and medal games on Tuesday, October 21, using the Paige system, a format designed to reward top-ranked teams while allowing lower seeds a path to the final.

The Belize squad arrived in Guatemala City early Wednesday morning and quickly settled into training mode conducting their first workout session at the Carlos Larrañaga Softball Stadium, signaling their readiness to compete with focus and national pride.
With five games in four days, the team faces a rigorous test of endurance, strategy, and execution. Fans back home are encouraged to follow the action and cheer on the boys in red, white, and blue as they aim for a podium finish.
The Belize Women’s National Softball Team will also compete at the Games — marking their first international appearance in 12 years, according to the Belize Baseball and Softball Federation. The women’s squad are scheduled to depart Belize on Tuesday, October 21, with their tournament running from Friday, October 24 to Tuesday, October 28.
With both teams poised to take the field, Belize Softball is making a powerful return to the regional stage. Fans are encouraged to follow the action and cheer on the athletes as they carry the national colours with pride and determination.
