By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) continues preparations for two upcoming World Cup qualifiers, with 27 players training under the guidance of a Mexican coaching staff led by Daniel Bartelotto. Training resumed on Tuesday, May 26, at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, as the squad prepares for travel to Trinidad and Tobago later this week.
The team will be whittled down ahead of their departure to take on Montserrat at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva on Wednesday, June 4. Following the Montserrat clash, Belize will return home to face Panama on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
As part of their ongoing preparations, the BMNT played a friendly match last week against Club Deportivo Aragón, an exhibition team from Mexico, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Another friendly is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 pm, when Belize will take on Mexican side NEZA at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. Entrance for the match is $10.
Belize enters the upcoming World Cup qualifiers without points, having lost their first two matches last year against Nicaragua and Guyana. With only the top two teams advancing, Belize faces a tough challenge as Nicaragua and Panama currently lead the standings with six points each.
