Belize Marketing and Development Corporation boasts construction of docking station and acquisition of industrial machinery

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Marketing and Development Corporation continues to make strides in infrastructure development at its Orange Walk Branch compound.

Recent construction and acquisition of industrial machinery includes a docking station for large containers, with space for handling and storing perishable goods like fresh vegetables, and an industrial potato washer.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise noted that there are also plans for further developments in the compound to organize and assist parking and improve the apron within the compound.

“Kudos to the visionary leadership of Managing Director Valentin Carrillo, who in less than 3 short years has marked appreciable improvements not just in the visible infrastructure of the Corporation, but also in its efficient running and general direction,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry reminded that prior to these developments, the BMDC was a forgotten entity, with poor direction and little substance to show.

“Now, rice is on the upswing, honey is being marketed internationally, fruit pulp is being sold all over Belize and the Corporation has much needed direction.

Way to go, and keep up the good work,” the Ministry added.
