By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The U17 Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) faced a tough challenge on Wednesday, January 29, as they took on hosts Trinidad and Tobago in their second match of the 2025 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Qualifiers. Despite their determination, Belize fell to a 2-0 defeat.
“While our U17 women’s team showed resilience and kept pushing until the final whistle, we could not secure a win,” the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said.
“It’s about building, learning, and pushing forward. Our Jaguars now gear up for their final match against the US Virgin Islands, which kicks off on Friday. Join us to continue supporting our girls as they continue this journey.”
In the other Group B match on Wednesday, Honduras defeated the US Virgin Islands 4-0, recording their second victory, just as Trinidad and Tobago. Both have six points, but Trinidad and Tobago edge Honduras by one goal. Belize and the US Virgin Islands are without a point.
With only one game left, Belize will attempt to finish third in the group when they face the US Virgin Islands on Friday. The young women are determined to end their campaign on a positive note.
Group B Standings:
- Trinidad and Tobago: 6 points (7-0 goal difference)
- Honduras: 6 points (6-0 goal difference)
- Belize: 0 points (0-4 goal difference)
- US Virgin Islands: 0 points (0-9 goal difference)
Belize’s schedule for the qualifiers is as follows:
- Monday, January 27, 2025: Belize 0-2 Honduras @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
- Wednesday, January 29, 2025: Belize 0-2 Trinidad and Tobago @ 8:00 pm (6:00 pm Belize)
- Friday, January 31, 2025: Belize vs. US Virgin Islands @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
