Press Release

The National Climate Change Office (NCCO), under the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management, officially launched Belize’s Fifth Annual Climate Week on March 12, 2026, at the Toledo Welcome Center in Punta Gorda Town. This launch reaffirms the country’s commitment to climate resilience, Indigenous knowledge, and sustainable development.

As the NCCO’s flagship national outreach and engagement initiative, Climate Week serves as Belize’s premier platform for climate education, dialogue, and collaboration.

The event specifically aims to:

  • Formally announce and create national awareness for Climate Week 2026, including its August 22–25 observances in Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District.
  • Highlight the thematic priorities: the Orange Economy; technology and climate change; Indigenous knowledge and heritage; and community-centered resilience.
  • Mobilize multi-sectoral participation and partnerships across government, civil society, the private sector, youth, Indigenous communities, and development partners to support coordinated national climate action.

The official launch event provided an overview of the planned activities, highlighted partnership opportunities, and outlined ways for the public and stakeholders to engage in the fifth annual observance.
