By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño met with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru in Tokyo on Monday during his official visit to Japan for Expo 2025 in Osaka.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the international rules-based order and agreed to deepen cooperation in various areas including economic development and educational exchange programs.

In a joint press conference, Prime Minister Ishiba described Belize and Japan as “important partners that share values and principles.” He added that closer cooperation between the two nations is a positive sign during a time when global stability and the rule of law face increasing pressure.

Belize and Japan continue to maintain strong diplomatic ties, with Belize being one of the few countries in the region that officially recognizes Taiwan. The meeting marks a huge step toward enhancing collaboration between both nations on key global issues and future development initiatives.
