By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Government of Belize has issued a travel advisory for Belizean nationals residing in or transiting through Mexico.

In a statement released from Belmopan on February 22, 2026, authorities advised Belizeans to exercise a high degree of caution and remain aware of their surroundings at all times.

Belizeans are being urged to avoid non-essential travel to the Mexican states of Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León.

Those currently in Mérida and the northern areas of Quintana Roo are advised to remain vigilant, monitor local warnings, and follow official advisories.

The advisory follows a major anti-narcotics operation carried out by the Mexican government and reported retaliatory actions by criminal groups.

Officials emphasized that there is currently no direct impact on Belize but said the situation continues to be monitored closely.
