By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Eight talented students from the Belize High School are in Tulsa, Oklahoma participating in the FIRST Robotics competition.
The Belizean students named their robot PARANDA.
The name is based on the Garifuna dance and music because the theme of the competition is “Cresendo”, which is a musical term.
Team Belize continue to surprise the judges with their performance.
Captain Aurayanna Alexis Matura Shepherd says it’s been a great experience going up against the other 42 US teams.
On March 8, 2024, students Isabel Mungal, Rex Jansen, William Chen, Cherry Chen, Leandro Avila, Ricardo Burns and Liam Lizarraga had their first experience in a Robotics Competion and they loved it.
Educators Godfrey Sosa and Gustavo Carrillo are at the helm with the students at the competition!
BBN joins in wishing Team Belize the best at the competition!
