By Horace Palacio: The heat is on in Belize today as fair and warm weather continues to dominate, with temperatures soaring across inland and coastal areas.
According to the National Meteorological Service, mostly sunny skies are expected throughout the day. Tonight, skies will remain clear to partly cloudy, with only isolated showers forecast. There is also a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms developing over the Maya Mountains during the afternoon or evening.
Inland residents should brace for a hot day, with temperatures reaching a high of 98°F (37°C). Coastal areas will experience slightly cooler but still warm conditions at 90°F (32°C). Over the hills, highs will peak at 84°F (29°C).
Winds will blow from the east at 10 to 15 knots, creating light chop conditions at sea with waves between 2 to 4 feet.
Looking ahead, the outlook for Monday and Monday night is for continued fair, warm, and mostly dry conditions, ideal for beach trips or inland travel.
