Belize Government Lotteries Limited seeks IT Technical Assistant for Belmopan Office

By Jose Luis Cruz: Belize Government Lotteries Limited (BGLL), the official body for administering, selling, and promoting government lotteries in Belize, has announced its initiative to boost revenues from the sale of government lotteries. The increase in funds is expected to significantly enhance social programs, including the National Health Insurance and the Official Charities Fund, thereby benefiting the lives of Belizean from all walks of life.

In line with its growth and service enhancement strategy, Belize Government Lotteries Limited is actively looking to appoint an Information Technology Technical Assistant for its Belmopan office situated at 11223 on the Hummingbird Highway.

The role of the IT Technical Assistant will be crucial in maintaining the technological infrastructure that supports the lottery’s operations. The individual will collaborate with the Information Technology Officer and Systems Administrator to manage and troubleshoot server and network-related projects and issues. Other key responsibilities include aiding in the deployment of technical updates, installing new IT equipment and software, and maintaining lottery selling devices.

A unique aspect of the role involves offering both in-person and remote IT support to lottery agents and distributors, addressing level 1 and 2 troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of the lottery’s technological systems.

Interested candidates are required to have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in the Information Technology field, with a Bachelor’s Degree being a significant advantage. At least two (2) years of experience in a supporting role and proficiency in managing Windows environments, Active Directory, and networking equipment are required. The ideal applicant will also have a track record of effective problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse workload. Proficiency in Spanish would be considered a valuable asset.
