By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize opens the work week under mostly sunny skies, but the fair spell is on notice: conditions turn moist and unstable tonight, with showers starting over the south and spreading to most areas after midnight, setting up a generally cloudy, showery Tuesday.

According to the National Meteorological Service, relatively dry conditions hold today, with mostly sunny skies and only isolated showers or thunderstorms developing. Tonight turns cloudy at times, with a few showers or thunderstorms over the south at first, then spreading to most areas after midnight.

Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) and a low of 81 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will climb to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius) before dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius). With the mercury at 95 inland one more time, the hydration rule stays in force through the afternoon.

At sea, the water carries some bounce, with easterly winds of 10 to 20 knots, choppy conditions, and waves of 3 to 5 feet, worth the usual care for smaller vessels, especially near any developing shower.

On the tropical front, the calm holds. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the region over the next 48 hours, so the incoming moisture is ordinary August weather, not a system.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and Tuesday night, skies turn generally cloudy with a few showers and thunderstorms over most areas, likely the wettest day Belize has seen in more than a week.

Today’s high tides are at 7:22 AM and 9:14 PM, with a low tide at 3:03 PM and another low at 1:49 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:34 AM and will set at 6:21 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
