Belize gears up for Caribbean Elite Road Cycling Championship: Team Presentation set for Friday ahead of Saturday’s Individual Time Trial

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize is proud to host the 2025 Caribbean Elite Road Cycling Championship, bringing together the region’s top athletes for a weekend of speed, strategy, and national pride. The festivities begin with the Official Welcome and Team Presentation on Friday, October 10, at 5:30 pm at the Belize Biltmore Plaza in Belize City, where fans can meet the elite cyclists competing in this year’s championship.

🚴‍♀️ Women’s Elite Athletes

Tenil Campbell (Trinidad & Tobago), Lori Sharp (Barbados), Gabrielle Arnold (USA), Marlowe Garcia (Dominican Republic), and Belize’s own Kaya Cattouse will headline the women’s field.

🚴 Men’s Elite Athletes

Conor White and Kaden Hopkins (Bermuda), Brayan Medina and Erlin Garcia (Dominican Republic), Jeremy Deloumeaux (Guadeloupe), Christopher Morales (Puerto Rico), Jesús Marte (Dominican Republic), Akil Campbell (Trinidad & Tobago), and members of Team Belize’s National Squad will represent the men’s division.

📍 Championship Events: October 11–12

Saturday, October 11 – Individual Time Trial (ITT)

Held on the Boom-Hattieville Road, the ITT begins at 8:00 am.

  • Women: 20.9 KM (13.0 miles)
  • Men: 32.5 KM (20.2 miles)

Cyclists will race against the clock in a test of pure speed and pacing.

Sunday, October 12 – Road Race

Starting in front of MIRAB Furniture Gallery on the Philip Goldson Highway at 8:00 am, the Road Race will challenge riders with a demanding circuit.

  • Women: 108 KM (67.1 miles)
  • Men: 156 KM (96.9 miles)

🗺 Race Route Details

The race rolls out from MIRAB and heads toward Ladyville, turning left into the Airport and John Smith Road. Riders will cross toward Mile 8 Community, then turn right onto the George Price Highway, continuing into the Hattieville Boom Road. From there, they’ll cross over to the Philip Goldson Highway, completing the circuit at the Airport Junction.

  • Women: 2 laps
  • Men: 3 laps

After completing their respective laps, riders will return to finish in front of MIRAB Furniture Gallery.
