Participants conducted real-time interviews, applied the skills learned during the training, and utilized audio-visual tools to document local food traditions.
The practicum focused on documenting Horneado de Cochinita, Choco Sakan, Handmade Corn Tortillas, and Red Recado Preparation, all of which will be added to the National Inventory of Belize’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR) session highlighted the importance of inclusive community participation, especially the contributions of youth, women, and elders, as we work together to safeguard our heritage.
“We look forward to engaging each of the other district in inventorying our food traditions. We would like to express our gratitude to our participants and the staff of Banquitas House of Culture and to UNESCO international assistance,” ISCR said.
