By Zoila Palma: On July 6, 2026, Belize Fishermen’s Co-operative Association (BFCA) held its Annual General meeting at the conference room of Northern Fishermen’s Co-operative.
The BFCA seeks to regroup, re-assess its objectives, and strategically plan its way forward. The meeting was attended by delegates from member co-operatives, local NGO’s, and representatives of the Caribbean Network of Fisherfolk Organizations(CNFO).
CEO in the Office of the Prime Minister Narda Garcia was the guest speaker.
Other remarks were made by Mitchell Lay, Program Coordinator, CNFO and Gareth Murillo, Registrar of Co-operatives.
Discussions also included updates on the recent activities and a status of the finances.
The meeting concluded with a pledge from all to support the mobilization and sustainability of the BFCA.
