The Office of the Belize Film Commissioner is excited to announce the inauguration of the Belize Film Xchange: Crossroads. Slated to launch in February 2025, Belize Film Xchange: Crossroads will host a week-long series of Cinematic Masterclasses and three full days of film festival programming featuring filmmakers and industry professionals from the Caribbean and Latin America.
The Belize Film Xchange: Crossroads is an international event that aims to spotlight the cultural and artistic talents of Latin America and the Caribbean. Through a carefully curated selection of films, seminars and workshops, the festival serves as a dynamic platform for creative dialogue and cultural exchange. Its mission is to foster international cultural exchange by producing multidisciplinary programming and workshops while celebrating the rich diversity of our region, and fostering collaborations that transcend borders. This year’s inaugural theme, “Crossroads” refers to Belize’s identity and geography at the crossroads of Latin America and the Caribbean.
“This project has been long in the making and I am so excited to finally bring it to life in 2025. This is such a critical time to support and grow our creative industries, and I hope that this new annual convening will be a continual catalyst for growing Belize’s creative economies and providing more opportunities for artistic development and expression.” says Carlo Habet, the Belize Film Commissioner and Festival Director.
Prior to the Festivals’ three-day screening program at The Bliss Centre for Performing Arts and various Satellite Screening partners, a series of cinematic workshops and seminars with industry experts will take place in Belize City to provide critical support and education to those in the industry both locally and regionally.
