By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s U-15 Women’s National Volleyball Team endured their third consecutive defeat on Friday, 12 December, in Managua, Nicaragua, after another exhausting five-set encounter at the 2nd Central American Under-15 Invitational Volleyball Championship.
The Belizean girls opened strongly, taking the first set 25–21, but Nicaragua responded with back-to-back wins in the second and third, both by 25–16. Refusing to give in, Belize rallied in the fourth set, winning 25–16 only for Nicaragua to hold firm in the deciding set, closing out the match 15–9 to secure a 3–2 triumph.
The result leaves Belize still searching for their first success, whilst Nicaragua improved their record to two wins and one defeat, keeping alive their hopes of reaching Sunnday’s bronze medal game.
Belize now look ahead to their final group fixture on Saturday, December 13, against El Salvador at 4:00 pm. The competition concludes on Sunday, December 14, with the bronze medal match at 4:00 pm between the third- and fourth-placed teams, followed by the championship final at 6:30 pm between the top two.
Although results have not gone their way, Belize have shown determination throughout, pushing both Guatemala and Nicaragua to five sets.
