The U16 Belize Boys National Team (BBNT) suffered a second consecutive defeat in the 2025 UNCAF FIFA Forward U16 Boys Tournament, falling 3–0 to Honduras on Saturday morning at the Centro Deportivo Ernesto Villa in Guatemala City.
After a tough 0–3 loss to Costa Rica on Thursday, Belize entered Saturday’s match hoping to revive their campaign. However, Honduras proved too strong, netting three goals to secure their second win of the tournament and move to the top of Group B with six points and a +5 goal difference (7 goals for, 2 against).
Costa Rica also earned their second win on Saturday, defeating El Salvador 2–0 at midday. Though they share six points and an identical +5 goal difference with Honduras, the Ticos trail in the standings due to having scored fewer goals (5 for, 0 against).
Belize now sit at the bottom of Group B and will wrap up group play on Monday, October 6, against El Salvador at 9:00 am, also at the Centro Deportivo Ernesto Villa. A win would lift Belize to third place in the group and earn them a spot in the 5th-place match against Group A’s third-place team. A loss, however, would leave Belize fourth and send them to the 7th-place match against Group A’s bottom team.
With semifinal hopes out of reach, the BBNT will be aiming for a strong finish to secure the best possible placement.
Group B Standings after Saturday:
• Honduras – 6 pts (7 GF, 2 GA, +5 GD)
• Costa Rica – 6 pts (5 GF, 0 GA, +5 GD)
• El Salvador – 0 pts (2 GF, 6 GA, –4 GD)
• Belize – 0 pts (0 GF, 6 GA, –6 GD)
