Belize’s U23 men’s volleyball team will battle El Salvador 
for fifth place Saturday at 2:30 pm at the VII AFECAVOL U-23 Central American Championship, hosted at Gimnasio La Basita in Chiriquí, Panama.
Team Belize earned their spot in the playoff after sweeping Honduras 
3–0 (25–22, 25–20, 25–15) on Friday, led by Kaelen Ingram’s 21-point performance. The win capped a strong rebound for Belize, who had been edged out of semifinal contention in a tightly contested Group A.
Group A Tiebreak Drama
Belize , Panama 
, and Guatemala 
all finished group play with identical 1–1 records. However, Panama advanced as group winners with six points, followed by Guatemala (5) and Belize (4), based on sets won and lost:
- Panama def. Belize 3–0
- Guatemala def. Panama 3–1
- Belize def. Guatemala 3–1
That left Belize in third place, sending them to the second round against Honduras, while Panama and Guatemala moved on to Friday’s semifinals.
Semifinal Results
Friday’s semifinals delivered high drama:
Nicaragua outlasted Panama 3–2 (25–19, 19–25, 23–25, 25–21, 15–12)- Guatemala downed
Costa Rica 3–1 (23–25, 25–22, 25–18, 25–20)
Final Day Matchups
The tournament concludes today with three placement matches:
2:30 pm – Belize vs El Salvador (5th Place)
5:00 pm – Panama vs Costa Rica (3rd Place)
7:30 pm – Nicaragua vs Guatemala (Championship Final)
With momentum from their win over Honduras and a strong showing against Guatemala, Team Belize will look to close out the tournament with a statement victory.
