By Zoila Palma: The Belize Enterprise Enhancement Program (BEEP) has awarded BZ$203,000 in seed capital to 29 micro, small, and medium enterprises under its Maturing Cohort 2, following a rigorous pitch evaluation process.
Of the selected businesses, 21 are women-led and eight are men-led, with 45% based in rural communities—reflecting the program’s focus on inclusive and equitable economic opportunity across the country.
Each enterprise will receive BZ$7,000 to strengthen operations, expand production, and increase competitiveness in sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, technology, creative industries, wellness, and food and beverage.
The funding aims to help MSMEs scale their businesses and better integrate into local and regional value chains.
With this latest round, BEEP has now supported 73 Belizean businesses since its launch, including 15 exporting companies, 44 maturing firms, and 14 start-ups.
Total funding disbursed has reached approximately BZ$783,000, marking a significant milestone in the program’s effort to accelerate private-sector development and empower small enterprises nationwide.
The program is expected to support 95 MSMEs by its conclusion in 2026, pushing overall investment to about BZ$800,000.
