By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a day of predominantly sunny skies interspersed with a few cloudy spells, according to the National Meteorological Service (NMS). While isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible, the south coast may experience a few more during the morning hours. The afternoon could see the development of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over inland areas. Tonight and tomorrow morning, shower activity is anticipated primarily over the south.
Marine conditions are favorable with easterly winds blowing at 5-15 knots and a slight sea state with waves ranging from 1-3 feet. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 90°F (32°C) along the coast and 94°F (34°C) inland.
The NMS is closely monitoring a broad area of low pressure over the western Caribbean Sea and parts of Central America. Gradual development of this system is expected, and a tropical depression is likely to form as it moves slowly northward across the northwestern Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico through the end of next week. The NMS will continue to monitor this system and provide updates as necessary.
The outlook for Monday and Monday night is for generally fair conditions with isolated shower activity.
