Belize Elite Basketball League: Western Ballaz face EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers Friday in Cayo in battle for survival

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Western Ballaz (1-3) are in a head-on clash against the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers (1-4) in the battle to remain alive in the Belize Elite Basketball League at the Sacred Heart Auditorium in San Ignacio on Friday night.

As it stands, the Cayo team have only played four games but are in the negative with only one victory. To remain alive in the battle for the playoffs, they need to start winning. Back in March they had downed the Orange Walk Running Rebels and had momentarily improved their record to 2-2. But then the Rebels withdrew from the competition and their game was ruled null and void. They dropped to a 1-2 and subsequently lost to the Belmopan Trojans falling to 1-3.

At this point, they are in desperate need for a win if they are to keep their hopes of advancing alive.

Their opponents, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers aren’t any better off with only one win in five outings. They must come up with a second victory tonight as well if they are to stay in the race.

That makes for fireworks when they both clash in Cayo on Friday night.

At the same time, both will be hoping that at the Belize City Civic Center on Friday night as well, the Belize City Defenders (4-2) beat the Belmopan Trojans (2-4), the team they are trying to catch. The Trojans are the team both the Western Ballaz and the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers are hoping to displace in their quest to qualify for then playoffs.
