Belize Elite Basketball League releases revamped championship schedule; 11 games left in regular season

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As the 2024 regular season winds down and after the withdrawal of the Orange Walk Running Rebels, the Belize Elite Basketball League finally released a revamped schedule that shows 11 games left before the playoffs.

Down to six teams, by the completion of those 11 games, all teams will have played ten games.

The Western Ballaz, who’ve played the least number of games, have five on hand. Second-place Benny’s Belize Hurricanes and EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers are next with four games pending. The other three teams, the Belize Defenders, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, and the Belmopan Trojans, have three games left to play.

The BEBL championship continues on Thursday night with the defending champions, Benny’s Belize Hurricanes, taking on the Western Ballaz at the Belize City Civic Center.

The following night, on Friday, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers will face the present leaders, the Belize City Defenders, at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium in Dangriga.

The weekend activity closes on Sunday when the San Pedro Tiger Sharks matchup against the Belmopan Trojans at the Belize City Civic Center.

All games tip off at 9:00 pm.

The following weekend will feature one regular season game and the All Star events.

On Friday, April 19, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers will face the Western Ballaz at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia. Then, on Sunday, starting at 3:00 pm, the All Star Day features a 3-point Contest, a Slam Dunk Contest, and an All Star Game.

The Regular season is expected to finish on Saturday, May 11.
