Belize Elite Basketball League features only 2 weekend games in Belize City, San Ignacio

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Elite Basketball League features only two games this weekend on Friday night in Belize City and San Ignacio.

The third-place Belize City Defenders (4-2) take on the fourth place Belmopan Trojans (2-4) at the Belize City Center at 9:00 pm. While the Defenders are poised to take one of the playoff spots, the Trojans have the Western Ballaz and the EZ Griga Dream Ballers, both with less games played, breathing at the back of their necks.

At the same time, the Western Ballaz (1-3) face the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers (1-4) in a must-win game at the Sacred Heart Auditorium in San Ignacio. Both teams are at the bottom of the standings but with less games played than the fourth place Belmopan Trojans they are intent on climbing the ladder to make the four-team playoffs.

Champions Benny’s Belize Hurricanes (5-1) and the San Pedro Tiger Sharks (4-3) rest this weekend..

The Orange Walk Running Rebels withdrew from the competition sometime ago.

According to the BEBL Commissioner, the new schedule will be finalized at a meeting on Wednesday night.
