The Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has informed customers that CFE (Mexico) has notified that they are encountering difficulties in maintaining supply to our grid.
“They have, therefore, asked us to make the necessary arrangements to supply demand from our local generation sources.
Demand for electricity is currently just over 100 MW, while the maximum available in-country capacity is around 84 MW,” BEL notified.
Therefore, the company decided to conduct significant load shedding to maintain the stability of the grid.
