By Aaron Humes: A transmission line fault on the portion of the grid between the Maskall substation and Westlake substation has resulted in power interruptions to service areas countrywide, except for Corozal, Belmopan, and parts of San Ignacio, reports Belize Electricity Limited (BEL).

BEL emphasized that “This is NOT due to the failure of the supply from CFE (Mexico).”

It adds that crews have been dispatched to investigate the cause of the transmission line fault.

Power should be restored to most of the affected service areas by 1:15 p.m. this afternoon.

However, parts of the country will experience unrelated load shedding with a schedule to be announced.
