By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s senior women’s national football team will compete in Group D of the 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers, following Wednesday’s official draw held in Miami, Florida. The qualifiers mark the preliminary stage of the 2026 Concacaf W Championship, which will serve as the Confederation’s pathway to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Group D features a competitive lineup: Haiti, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Belize, and Anguilla. Matches will be played across three FIFA Women’s International Match Windows — November 2025, February 2026, and April 2026.

📌 Only the group winner will advance.

Concacaf has divided the 29 participating nations into six groups. At the conclusion of the qualifiers, just one team from each group will move on to the eight-team 2026 Concacaf W Championship, joining the United States and Canada, who have already qualified as the region’s top-ranked sides.

🇧🇿 Belize’s Opportunity

For Belize, the qualifiers present a historic opportunity to compete for a spot in the region’s premier women’s tournament. With the W Championship acting as a gateway to both the World Cup and Olympic Games, national pride and development are on the line.

The Football Federation of Belize is expected to announce the team’s preparation plans and match venues in the coming weeks. The squad will aim to build on recent progress in regional competitions and display the growing talent in Belizean women’s football.

🏆 What’s Next

The 2026 Concacaf W Championship will be held in November 2026 and feature a knockout format beginning with Quarterfinals. The top four teams from that round will qualify directly for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, while two more will earn a chance via the Intercontinental Play-Off. The finalists will also secure Olympic berths, with a third-place finish potentially granting a spot if the United States — as Olympic host — reaches the final.

📅 Match schedule and further details to be announced by Concacaf.
