By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize earned their first point of the 2026 Concacaf Under‑17 Qualifiers on Sunday after drawing 2–2 with Curaçao at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City. The U17 BMNT led 2–0 at halftime but were unable to hold off a determined second‑half comeback from the Caribbean side.
The Under‑17 Belize Men’s National Team (U17 BMNT) struck almost immediately when Andy Pop (#3) scored in the 2nd minute, finishing confidently after a sharp attacking sequence and an assist from Devaughn Quintanilla (#4). The lead doubled shortly before the break when Byron Marroquin (#11) found the net in the 41st minute off an assist from Jahson Stanford (#7), sending Belize into halftime with a strong 2–0 advantage.

Curaçao responded in the second half with two quick goals. Jëalardino Floranus pulled one back in the 64th minute, and Eljan Sparen equalized just four minutes later in the 68th, shifting the momentum and ultimately securing the draw for Curaçao.
The result comes after Belize’s 3–1 loss to El Salvador on Friday in their opening match. In Sunday’s other Group F fixture, Cuba defeated El Salvador 2–1, tightening the standings as the group heads into its final round.
Belize now prepare for their last Group F match on Wednesday against Cuba, a challenging encounter that will close out their participation in the qualifiers.
