By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Reggae Boyz pulled off a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions Survivors FC in the Belize District Football Association (BDFA) 2024-2025 First Division Closing Championship on Saturday at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City, handing the reigning titleholders their second straight defeat.
Survivors had an early opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot, but the attempt was sent over the crossbar, keeping the match level. Reggae Boyz capitalised on the missed chance, breaking through in the 64th minute, when Harold Thompson headed in the winning goal to secure the victory.
With this result, Reggae Boyz now have four points, following their week one draw with Old Road Defenders and this latest win over Survivors FC, who remain point-less after two consecutive defeats.
As the BDFA First Division tournament heats up, sides continue to battle for positioning in what is shaping to be a highly competitive season.
