By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under-23 Belize women’s national volleyball team delivered a golden finale to a flawless tournament run, overpowering Guatemala 3–1 (25–9, 25–15, 21–25, 25–10) in Thursday night’s championship match of the VII AFECAVOL U23 women’s Central American volleyball championship at the Belize Civic Center.
With unmatched consistency across four matches, Belize finished with a 4–0 record, dropping just one set all tournament — and doing so in the final after three straight-set wins. The hosts tallied the highest point total and showed exceptional tactical discipline in all phases of the game.
Final match highlights
- Nisaan Martinez led the charge with 20 points (11 attacks, 4 blocks, 5 serves)
- Khaya Gordon added 15 points, continuing her tournament dominance
- Fatima Ramirez and Heredie Castillo combined for 22 points, reinforcing Belize’s balanced attack
Despite Guatemala’s third-set resistance, Belize came roaring back with a crushing 25–10 finish in the fourth, sealing the crown in front of a jubilant home crowd.

Honduras clinch third place
Earlier in the evening, Honduras swept El Salvador 3–0 (25–19, 25–15, 25–9) to secure third place and close their campaign on a high note. Honduras controlled the tempo with aggressive net play and sharp serving, limiting El Salvador to just 43 points in the match.
